Paging from the Paging Screen

Paging from the Paging Screen and using the Paging Icon in Other Screens

The Paging screen is used to send a page to one or multiple recipients at the same time. The recipients can be the members of a message group, those currently on-call for an on-call group, an individual person or function, or the members of a user’s personal message group.

A personal message group can be created by a user in the Paging screen. A personal message group is a set of message recipients that can be named and saved as a group by a user. The user can then easily select that particular group of users at any time.

NOTE: Paging from the Paging screen differs from paging in any other screen in that multiple recipients can be selected only in the Paging screen.

Sending a Page

Sending a page consists of selecting the message recipients and creating a message. An individual can receive a page if the following conditions are met.

The individual must be assigned a pager.

The individual’s status must allow them to receive a page.

The On Pager option must be selected in the Messaging tab in the Listings form in Smart Center for that individual.

Paging for Smart Web must be enabled for that individual in the Module Access tab in the Listings form in Smart Center.

If an individual cannot receive a page, the page message is stored with an operator, and can be retrieved by that individual from the operator or in the Personal Profile screen in Smart Web.

Using the Quick Page Feature

The Quick Page feature enables you to page one recipient using the Quick Page link displayed in the Smart Web title bar. This feature is useful if you know the messaging ID for the individual to whom you want to page.

For more information about using Quick Page, please refer to Paging with the Quick Page Feature.

Paging from Other Screens

In addition to paging from the Paging screen, you can also page a profile from other screens within Smart Web. When paging is available, a pager icon displays next to the profile name. Simply click the pager icon to send a page to that individual.

Paging Screen and the Paging/Directory Screen

Your system may be configured to display the Paging/Directory screen instead of the Paging screen. If this is the case, phone numbers for the person and the department with which the person is associated are also displayed. This enables the user to have the paging features and phone numbers available on the same screen.

Note that your system can only display one of the screens. If your system includes the Paging screen, the Paging/Directory screen cannot also be included, and vice versa.

For more information about the Paging/Directory screen, please refer to Paging from the Consolidated Paging/Directory Screen.

Getting Started with Paging
