Selecting the Send to All Devices Option

The “send to all messaging devices” feature determines whether a message sent from Smart Web or Smart Console is sent to one device or to a set of selected pagers and email addresses.

NOTE: This feature is not used for phone calls or faxes.

NOTE: If your system is using the DPE (Device Preference Engine) to manage your device preferences, the Send to all Devices and the Pagers sections are removed by default. Your system may be configured to display a message and/or a link with more information for your site in the Pagers section. If so, the Pagers section is displayed.

Normally, when a page or an email is sent to a person, the message is sent to the device that has the highest display order assigned or, if a display order is not assigned, the system uses the Oracle selection process to pick a device. When using the send to all messaging devices feature, the message is sent to all of the pagers and email addresses assigned to the person that have been selected to allow this feature.

When the Send to all devices option is selected for a listing record, you must determine the set of pagers and emails on which messages should be received. By default, the Send To option is selected for all pagers and email addresses and must be de-selected if a message should not be sent to the device. This feature is useful if you want to exclude certain devices, such as a personal email address.

NOTE: A pager or email address that is not selected for use with this feature can still be used to receive messages. The Send To option only applies to the send to all messaging devices feature.

NOTE: This does not affect pages and email messages sent from Spok e.Notify Admin or Spok ez.Notify.

      Smart Web: When an operator sends a page or an email from Smart Web, the operator is not aware of whether the message is sent to all pagers and email addresses defined for the person. This feature can also be enabled and disabled by the person in Smart Web in the Personal Profile screen.

      Smart Console: If this option has been selected for a listing record, the operator cannot deselect this option when paging or emailing the person from Smart Console. However, if the option has not been selected for the person in the Listing form in Smart Center or the Admin Lite form in e.Notify Admin, an operator can select this option in the Messaging window when paging or emailing a person from Smart Console.

This feature can also be enabled and disabled in the listing record for the person in Smart Center.
